Die Serie The Furtastic Adventures of The Cabbit and The Folf legt den Schwerpunkt auf das Furry-Fandom und besteht aus &Mac221;Fan-Gruppen&Mac220; anthropomorpher Tierfiguren mit menschlichen Persönlichkeiten. Lybeer fotografierte belgische, niederländische, französische und deutsche Mitglieder des Furry-Fandoms. In diesen zwanzig Porträts hat sie die sogenannten Furries in ihre eigenen Wohnzimmer zurückgebracht. Die Kostüme, die uns den Charakter der Teilnehmenden im &Mac221;Furry-Modus&Mac220; zeigen, stehen im Kontrast zur häuslichen Atmosphäre, die kleine Details über die Teilnehmenden offenbart, wenn sie &Mac221;außerhalb ihrer Rolle&Mac220; sind. Seit 2003 fotografiert Lybeer die Erfahrung des heutigen Lebens in einer hochgradig künstlichen Welt. Ihre frühen Arbeiten konzentrieren sich auf inszenierte und kontrollierte Umgebungen wie geschlossene Wohnanlagen und Themenparks. In jüngerer Zeit fotografierte sie Menschen, die ihre Identität durch Codes und Maskeraden definieren, indem sie ihre Zugehörigkeit zu einer bestimmten Gruppe demonstrieren und sich gleichzeitig von der Mehrheitsgesellschaft abgrenzen. Als Fotografin verbindet Lybeer die Neugier einer Journalistin, die aktuelle Phänomene – Symptome der globalen kapitalistischen Krise – untersucht, mit der Empathie einer Detektivin, die in abgeschlossene Welten eindringt, sowie mit der Sensibilität, einzufangen, wie Fiktion die Realität verwandelt.

The series The Furtastic Adventures of The Cabbit and The Folf emphasis on the furry fandom and consists of ‘fan groups’ of anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities. Lybeer photographed Belgian, Dutch, French and German members of the furry fandom. In those twenty portraits, she has taken back the so called furries to their own living rooms. The costumes that show us the participant‘s character when in ‘furry mode’ clashes with the homely atmosphere that reveal small things about the participant when ‘out of character.’ Since 2003 Lybeer photographs the experience of today‘s living in a highly artificial world. Her early works focus on the staged and controlled environments of gated communities and theme parks. Recently she photographed people who define their identity through codes and masquerades, demonstrating membership of one group while distancing themselves from mainstream society. As a photographer Lybeer combines the curiosity of the journalist researching actual phenomena – symptoms of the global, capitalist crisis – the empathy of the detective infiltrating enclosed worlds, and the sensibility to capture the way fiction transforms reality.
