Margriet van Breevoort schafft skulpturale und installative Arbeiten, die die komplexe Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur durch Humor, Verspieltheit und ein Gefühl der Entfremdung erforschen. Sie spielt mit Gegensätzen wie organisch vs. technologisch und animalisch vs. kultiviert. Ihre Arbeiten ziehen die Betrachter*innen mit einer einnehmenden Ästhetik an und verunsichern sie zugleich auf subtile Weise durch fleischliche, mitunter groteske Formen. Indem sie Anziehung und Abstoßung ausbalanciert, eröffnet sie Raum für Reflexion darüber, wie wir die Natur manipulieren und unseren Platz innerhalb eines größeren Ökosystems wahrnehmen.

Margriet van Breevoort creates sculptural and installation based works that explore the complex relationship between humans and nature through humor, playfulness, and a sense of estrangement. She plays with contrasts like the organic vs the technological and the animalistic vs the cultivated. Her work draws viewers in with an endearing aesthetic while subtly unsettling them with fleshy, sometimes grotesque forms. By balancing attraction and repulsion, she opens space for reflection on how we manipulate nature and perceive our place within a broader ecosystem.
